Highland Beach, Florida
Highland Beach Today
In 1999, the Highland Beach celebrated its fiftieth anniversary - quite a milestone for our little community! The future of the Town looks very bright, indeed!

The present financial condition of the Town is excellent, and is anticipated to become even better. This should allow for the municipal tax rate to remain low - within the lowest 15% in all of Palm Beach County. It will also afford future Town Commissions the luxury of many different financial choices, their decisions based, of course, on which will best serve the residents of the Town of Highland Beach.

Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant

In March 2000, voters approved a referendum to build a state of the art Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant on some of the land behind Town Hall. The new facility replaced our lime softening plant located in Boca Raton, and was put into service in October 2004.

In March 2002, Highland Beach voters approved a referendum to build a new library in the rear of the Town Hall complex, next to the Intracoastal Waterway. The new library is 10 times larger than the old one, and provides patrons with even more choices and variety in the latest reading materials, periodicals, videos, and DVDs.

The facility features:

  • A large reading rotunda with comfortable leather chairs
  • Two screened porches, all facing the Intracoastal Waterway
  • More public computers available for Internet access
  • A large community room which is used for various activities, classes and exhibits.

The new library opened its doors in February 2006.
